Description.
Often spindly shrub to 2 metres in height. The leaves are narrow, lance-shaped and end in distinct points, giving the plant its common name. The five-petaled flowers are typically white and are produced in such profusion that they give the whole plant a white appearance. The fruits that follow are round and grey-brown, with five chambers containing large numbers of unusual dust-like seeds. The fruits are generally retained unopened for long periods; some may open only when the plant is damaged.
Propagation.
Germinates without pre-treatment but results are variable. Also from cuttings.
Flowering.
Generally late spring and summer, though out of season flowering is known.
Locations.
Livingstone NP and Murraguldrie. A higher-rainfall species.
